Revolut Plans Netherlands 2026: Standard vs Plus vs Premium vs Metal vs Ultra

TL;DR

Start with Revolut Standard unless a paid-plan limit or benefit has a measurable value in your real month. Current Dutch prices are Free, €3.99, €10.99, €19.99, and €65. Premium, Metal, and Ultra remove the plan-level exchange allowance, while travel, insurance, subscription, ATM, and card-delivery details still require a live terms check.

Choose the lowest Revolut plan that earns back its price through benefits you will actually use.

Short answer: start with Revolut Standard unless you can name the paid-plan benefit that will repay the subscription. In the Netherlands, Revolut currently lists Standard at Free, Plus at €3.99/month, Premium at €10.99/month, Metal at €19.99/month, and Ultra at €65/month as an introductory offer. The rational upgrade point is not “more features.” It is a recurring limit, fee, or benefit you already use enough to value above the price.

This guide was checked against Revolut's Netherlands plan comparison and Standard fee sheet on 27 August 2026. Prices, included subscriptions, insurance eligibility, rates, and limits can change. Confirm the live app screen before paying.

Plus€3.99€3,000/month€200/monthOnly if the higher exchange allowance or Plus protections matter
Premium€10.99Unlimited at plan level€400/monthFrequent travel/exchange with specific benefits you value
Metal€19.99Unlimited at plan level€800/monthHigh-usage travel and included benefits, after a value audit
Ultra€65 introductory priceUnlimited at plan level€2,000/monthA narrow premium-use case, not a default upgrade

“Unlimited” here means no plan-level fair-usage allowance for money-currency exchange. It does not mean every financial action is free. International transfer charges, investment and crypto fees, third-party ATM charges, insurance exclusions, delivery rules, and product-specific terms can still apply.

The displayed Ultra price is marked as an introductory offer. Treat it as volatile.

The plan-choice rule that prevents overpaying

Use this decision:

Choose the cheapest plan whose benefits you can value above its annual subscription using your previous three months of real behaviour.

That means Plus must produce more than €47.88 a year of value for you. Premium must clear €131.88. Metal must clear €239.88. Ultra must clear €780 at the currently displayed monthly price.

Do not use Revolut's headline “benefits worth” number as your personal value. A subscription you would never buy, insurance you do not qualify for, lounge access you will not use, or a larger ATM limit you do not need is worth zero in your decision.

The useful calculation is:

fees avoided + benefits you would otherwise buy + time saved − annual plan price

If that number is not clearly positive, remain on Standard.

When Standard is enough

Standard is the right default when you want to test Revolut with no monthly subscription, mostly pay by card, exchange no more than roughly €1,000 a month, and do not need a larger Revolut ATM allowance.

The current Standard fee sheet matters because “Free” refers to the subscription:

  • the first card is listed as free, but delivery applies;
  • local standard delivery is currently €7.99;
  • Revolut ATM withdrawals are free up to €200 or five withdrawals per rolling month, whichever happens first;
  • a 2% fee, with a €1 minimum, applies after that allowance;
  • money-currency exchange above €1,000 a month carries a 1% fair-usage fee;
  • weekend money-currency exchange carries a 1% fee.

For a light-use traveller or a second money account, that can still be a strong configuration. It is simply not costless in every scenario.

When Plus can make sense

Plus is the smallest paid step. Its clearest numerical difference is the current €3,000 monthly exchange allowance and a 0.5% fair-usage fee above it, compared with €1,000 and 1% on Standard. Revolut's plan table also lists purchase-protection-related benefits and a personalised Plus card.

Plus can make sense if you repeatedly exchange between €1,000 and €3,000 on weekdays and would otherwise pay more than the subscription in fair-usage fees. It is a weaker upgrade if you are buying it for status, if your exchange volume is occasional, or if you assume the insurance applies without reading the eligibility and policy wording.

The ATM allowance remains €200 per month. Do not upgrade to Plus for cash withdrawal capacity.

When Premium is the practical paid tier

Premium is the first plan in the current Dutch comparison with no plan-level exchange allowance and no additional weekend exchange fee. It also increases the Revolut ATM allowance to €400 per month and introduces a broader set of travel, subscription, support, data, and insurance-related benefits.

It can be rational for someone who exchanges frequently, travels often enough to use the included package, or already pays separately for services that genuinely overlap.

Run three checks before upgrading:

  1. Would you buy each included subscription at retail price without the bundle?
  2. Does the insurance policy cover your trip type, age, residency, companions, and booking/payment pattern?
  3. Does your exchange and ATM usage actually exceed Standard or Plus limits?

If the answer to all three is “not really,” Premium is convenience, not savings.

When Metal is worth the jump

Metal currently raises the Revolut ATM allowance to €800 per month and packages a wider set of travel and everyday benefits. The Metal card itself is part of the appeal, but the card material is not a financial return.

Metal is defensible when you can map several paid benefits to existing spending and will use them across most months. It is usually too expensive if the entire case rests on one holiday, one lounge visit, or an aesthetic preference.

Also remember that an ATM operator can add its own fee. A larger Revolut allowance does not control what the machine owner charges.

Who should consider Ultra

Ultra is a premium bundle with a current €65 introductory monthly price, a €2,000 Revolut ATM allowance, a platinum-plated card, and the broadest travel and subscription package in the line-up.

It is not the “best Revolut plan” in the abstract. It is the right plan only when a frequent traveller or very high-usage customer can demonstrate repeat use of lounge access, travel services, higher limits, subscriptions, and support features that exceeds €780 a year at the current monthly price.

Ultra is the plan most vulnerable to inflated mental accounting. Audit every benefit at the price you would personally pay—not the provider's stated retail value.

Annual or monthly payment?

Revolut says paid plans can be billed monthly or annually. Check the live price, commitment, downgrade, and cancellation terms before choosing. An annual discount does not make an unsuitable plan suitable; it only lowers the cost of a plan you already decided to keep.

If you are testing a tier for one trip, confirm minimum-term and break-fee rules first. Do not assume “monthly price” means “cancel with no consequence next month.”

My default recommendation

My default is Standard first, measurement second, upgrade third.

Use Standard for at least one normal billing cycle. Record:

  • how much you exchanged;
  • whether any exchange happened on a weekend;
  • ATM amount and withdrawal count;
  • international transfers;
  • benefits you would have paid for separately.

Then compare your real number with the annual subscription. This makes the plan decision boring—and therefore better.

Read the Revolut Netherlands fee guide before deciding, especially if travel or currency exchange is the reason you are considering Revolut.

FAQ

Which Revolut plan is best in the Netherlands?

Standard is the best starting point for most people because it has no monthly subscription. Premium, Metal, or Ultra can be better for a high-usage traveller only when specific exchange limits, ATM limits, insurance, subscriptions, or travel benefits are worth more to that person than the plan price.

Is Revolut Standard really free?

The Standard subscription is free. Card delivery, replacement cards, exchange above the allowance, weekend exchange, ATM use above the allowance, international payments, and third-party charges can still cost money.

Does Revolut Premium have unlimited currency exchange?

Revolut's current Netherlands comparison lists Premium, Metal, and Ultra with no plan-level fair-usage limit for money-currency exchange and no additional weekend exchange fee. Other service fees and product-specific terms can still apply.

Is Revolut Metal worth €19.99 a month?

Only if the benefits you will actually use exceed €239.88 a year at the current price. Value the package using your previous behaviour, not the maximum advertised benefit value.

Is the Revolut Ultra price permanent?

The current Netherlands plan page labels €65 per month as an introductory offer. Check the live price and paid-plan terms before subscribing.
